The problem
Child grooming is a real and growing crisis. Parents are worried. Regulators are worried. Governments are panicking. And media companies play lip service to those concerns while treating children as an exploitable resource.
The platforms children use most — Snapchat, WhatsApp, Instagram — are designed to maximise engagement, not protect children. Anonymous accounts, algorithmic amplification, and the absence of any real identity verification create an environment where predators thrive.
VML Kids starts from the opposite premise: children's safety first, everything else second. No child should ever be able to create an account alone. No adult should ever be able to pose as a child undetected.
Our legal commitment
VML Kids is designed and operated in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the European Convention on Human Rights, and UK child protection law. Under Article 3 of the UNCRC, the best interests of the child are our primary consideration in every decision this platform makes — in its design, its verification processes, its safeguarding procedures, and its referral pathways to statutory authorities.
Where our safeguarding process identifies indicators of risk to a child — including potential document fraud, violations of court orders, or concerns about a child’s safety or whereabouts — we will refer immediately to the appropriate authorities with all relevant data the platform holds. Our safeguarding panels are independent, expert, and accountable. They operate within established legal frameworks not because those frameworks limit child protection, but because rigorous due process is what makes child protection legally sustainable and effective. Where the threshold for concern is met, they act without hesitation and without exception.
Our complete safeguarding documents will be publicly available — no registration required.
Our approach
VML Kids is not another social media platform with child safety bolted on. These principles are foundational — built in from day one.
Every account is tied to a real, verified child and a verified parent or guardian. Identity is checked at account creation and confirmed at every login. No exceptions.
Multi-factor authentication as standard. Children under 10 require parental co-login. All accounts use biometric or hardware key verification — no simple passwords alone.
No follower counts. No vanity metrics. No advertising. No influencers. Age-restricted peer groups to reduce bullying and undue influence from older children or adults.
AI-assisted monitoring of public communications, backed by independent safeguarding panels with authority to involve external authorities. Children can contact experts directly via confidential, E2E-encrypted channels.
How it works
Ten carefully designed stages — from identity verification to ongoing support — covering everything a child, parent or family might need, all within a single safe, verified environment.
Age groups
Children are only ever in peer groups appropriate to their age. At every two-year birthday milestone, the account is suspended until a parent re-verifies the child's identity and age — then it progresses to the next level.
Security
Every security layer exists because children's safety demands it — not because it was convenient to add later.
Full security architecture will be published closer to launch. For operational security reasons, only the minimum necessary technical details will ever be made public.
Safeguarding
Every major platform that has failed children has done so because it regulated itself. VML Kids takes a fundamentally different approach: our safeguarding boards are independent, composed of expert professionals, and carry genuine authority — not just advisory power.
All data collected is gate-kept and only accessible to registered safeguarding professionals where specific concerns are raised and an agreed threshold has been crossed. The boards have the authority to contact police, social services and other authorities directly where they have sufficient evidence or concern for a child's wellbeing.
AI-assisted systems monitor public communications for risk patterns, feeding into the human review layer — the experts, not the algorithms, make the final call.
Schools
Every UK school that requests it receives a free, secure sub-domain — not to replace their public website, but to provide a genuinely safe channel for school and family communication.
A protected space that is entirely separate from the public internet, visible only to verified parents and children registered to that school.
The bigger picture
VML Kids is one part of a broader verified-identity infrastructure being built by Teravoxus Holdings under the VML Ecosystem. A child's verified identity grows with them across every platform in the ecosystem.
We are currently identifying founding partners — schools, local authorities, child safety organisations and technology partners — who understand why children need a safe, identity-verified internet. If that is you, we want to hear from you.
